Swimming with pigs in the Bahamas

When you plan your honeymoon in London the other half expects a VIP treatment with some exciting sightseeing trips and of course lots of bookings to the London musicals

A young Bahamian entrepreneur Mr Lee McCoy had other ideas and changed his honeymoon plans into a search for a new business opportunity. Having come across the “high speed” RIB cruises on the Thames Lee just knew that the so called SeaSafari Ribs would have great potential for the Bahamas.

Sea Safari RIBS are the speciality for Parker Ribs so Lee had no problems in finding us and a demo was promptly organized in Southampton waters on a Parker 900 Baltic owed by Poole SeaSafari . The demo was a great success and as the rib was already up for sale Lee in no time confirmed his order and following a full survey of the rib and engine service the rib was shipped out to the Bahamas.

A new tour company known as Harbour Safaris was formed to shuttle enthusiastic tourists from Nassau to Exuma's internationally-famed swimming pigs. The Exuma's swimming pigs have become an international sensation, drawing press globally. The Parker 900 Baltic RIB transports their customers at high speed to Big Major Cay before being brought back to Nassau via Staniel Cay and Allen's Cay, home of the Bahamian iguanas, Harbour Safaris now also offers exhilarating tours of Nassau Harbour, and a shorter North Exuma tour.

Up until the launch of Harbour Safaris, there was no operator consistently taking bookings for Nassau-based visitors to see the animals. The only way to see the pigs was to fly to Exuma and book in with one of the companies which visits Big Majors from a local settlement.

When on holiday in the Bahamas this just must be on your list of things to do
